Wrightington International Arthroplasty Meeting & Bristol Hip Arthroplasty Course
The UK team had a busy few days at the end of November as we attended the Wrightington International Arthroplasty Meeting (WIAM) on 22-23 November and the Bristol Hip Arthroplasty Course (BHAC) on 24-25 November.
The Wrightington Meeting was held to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the John Charnley Low Friction Arthroplasty and was attended by 250 Orthopaedic Surgeons and Trainees. On the Tuesday, there was a Battle of the Approaches talk, with speakers covering the Direct Anterior Approach, SPAiRE technique, Standard Posterior and also the SuperPath® approach. Mr. Ashwin Kulkarni presented on his experiences with the SuperPath® approach.
The Bristol Meeting is held annually and focussed solely on the matters related to the treatment of Hip arthritis. 120 Surgeons attended and, as one of three Premium Sponsors, the UK team held a Chill Out & Chat session with UK Surgeon, Mr. Mohammad Faisal, who presented on the SuperPath® approach. Mr. Kulkarni also had a podium presentation on his mid-term results, including data on his functional outcomes such as 88% of patients being off crutches 2 weeks post-surgery!
Global Medial Pivot Symposium
The Global Medial-Pivot Symposium will discuss the role of contemporary medially constrained implant designs in the world of total knee arthroplasty.
The Symposium will address various topics such as surgical techniques, unique implant design considerations, clinical evidence and future direction, presented by a group of world-renown experts in knee arthroplasty.

BOA Annual Congress 2022
The UK team attended the British Orthopedic Association Annual Congress in Birmingham from 20th-22nd September. This event is the largest Orthopedic meeting of the year with around 2000 attendees and the Educational content covers all areas of Orthopedics with sub-speciality sessions held for hip and knee arthroplasty.
The MicroPort stand paid particular focus to the Evolution® Medial Pivot knee, a subject matter that is gaining in interest in the UK market, and our portal-assisted techniques; SuperPath® and AnteriorPath®. On the Tuesday evening, a side-event was held with presentations from UK Consultants, Mr Ashwin Kulkarni and Mr. Mohammad Faisal. The attendees got to hear about their experience with SuperPath® along with tips and tricks from their learning curve. Mr Kulkarni also provided an update on his 5 year results, including data from his recent presentation at the AAOS meeting.
