Wrightington International Arthroplasty Meeting & Bristol Hip Arthroplasty Course

The UK team had a busy few days at the end of November as we attended the Wrightington International Arthroplasty Meeting (WIAM) on 22-23 November and the Bristol Hip Arthroplasty Course (BHAC) on 24-25 November.

The Wrightington Meeting was held to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the John Charnley Low Friction Arthroplasty and was attended by 250 Orthopaedic Surgeons and Trainees. On the Tuesday, there was a Battle of the Approaches talk, with speakers covering the Direct Anterior Approach, SPAiRE technique, Standard Posterior and also the SuperPath® approach. Mr. Ashwin Kulkarni presented on his experiences with the SuperPath® approach.

The Bristol Meeting is held annually and focussed solely on the matters related to the treatment of Hip arthritis. 120 Surgeons attended and, as one of three Premium Sponsors, the UK team held a Chill Out & Chat session with UK Surgeon, Mr. Mohammad Faisal, who presented on the SuperPath® approach. Mr. Kulkarni also had a podium presentation on his mid-term results, including data on his functional outcomes such as 88% of patients being off crutches 2 weeks post-surgery!
